ABOUT US

MEET ABBY

Hydrologist and Owner, Abby Thompson Fopiano, grew up on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Having spent summers at her family's island camp, Abby has always felt connected to the water. Other than the fact we all need it to survive, she finds the geologic and hydraulic facets of groundwater fascinating.

Abby enjoys working with people to solve their water needs and sees her work as a puzzle that she gets to solve. Abby hears and listens to your wants, determines the needs, gathers the data and pieces together a whole project to make it a reality.

Abby established Edgewater Strategies in 2021 after 15 years of  working as a hydrogeologist in New Hampshire's drinking water industry. Abby obtained a BS in Geology from the University of Montana (Missoula), a MS in Hydrology from the University of New Hampshire (Durham) and is a Licensed NH Professional Geologist.

Her career in the drinking water industry began after a UNH internship with Geosphere Environmental Management in Exeter that turned into a full-time position. Abby then moved to work with Epping Well and Pump in Epping. This move provided her the opportunity to become well-versed in the operations and management of small public water supplies as well as residential water systems. After the birth of her daughter, Abby began working within the Drinking Water Groundwater Bureau at NH Department of Environmental Services as the Water Well Program Manager, which rooted her even more in the water well industry.

Abby abides by the Work Hard, Play Hard, mentality. What is it all worth if we can't take the time to enjoy all the wonderful things life has to offer? Time on the water - whether on a boat, on skates or on skis (and sharing that time with her daughter) is where Abby is happiest.

Abby resides in Gilford with her young daughter, loving dog and sweet kitty.

"It's fun to do projects with Abby, primarily because Abby approaches every project with stress-free determination and utilizes other's strongest assets to get things done. This makes everyone involved important and productive."
